Sanders Whiting holds the title of Estill Master Trainer (EMT) in the Estill Voice Training model. Currently he teaches singing and voice and speech in the theatre and musical theatre programs at Capilano University. He also trains faculty and staff in presentation skills at Simon Fraser University. His training includes an MFA Theatre (Acting), bachelor degrees in both education and classical music, and a diploma in popular music. He also has studied with front line teachers in the singing and musical theatre industries including internationally acclaimed Anne-Marie Speed (London), Tom Burke (New York), the president of Estill International, Kim Steinhauer and Feldenkrais practitioner and voice instructor Robert Sussuma.
Since 2013 he has organized and helped teach the Complete 5 Day Courses in Vancouver on 6 occasions for distinguished instructors. He also recently assistant taught for the courses in Seattle.
A highlight in his Estill training was to lead practice groups for his EMT apprenticeship at the Estill World Voice Symposium at Harvard University in 2013. Other previous voice training includes 2 years with David Smukler learning Linklater technique for actors and appoggio training with the late Richard Miller.
His extensive theatre career includes the original cast of the mega musical Lord of the Rings, multiple casts of Forever Plaid, lead roles in both musical and non musical plays, plus nominations and an award for Vancouver's professional Jessie Richardson theatre awards. He originated roles in two plays by Michael O’Brien at the National Arts Centre. He has played in theatres across Canada and has toured internationally. In the animation world he voiced the character of Wimpy in a Popeye TV special with Kathy Bates and Billy West. His limited career in front of the camera include a principle role as a racetrack jockey in the iconic Vancouver series Da Vinci’s Inquest.
His next goal is to build on his knowledge as an Estill Master Trainer and become certified as an Estill Mentor & Course Instructor.
